A prominent spire that graces Winston-Salem's skyline is a testimony to the North Carolina's city tobacco legacy. "The Reynold's Building was the protype for the Empire State Building," said Lynn Browning, convention sales manager for Visit Winston-Salem (VWS). "So every year, the New York City skyscraper sends the Reynolds Building a birthday card saying, 'Happy Birthday Mom.'"
