Entering its 12th year, Salute! uncorks along Fourth Street in Winston-Salem as more than 35 North Carolina wineries share sample pours of their wines and encourage festival goers to experience the nearby Yadkin Valley wine region, and beyond. Historic Reynolda Estate Celebrates Centennial
The 1917 Reynolda Estate, Winston-Salem’s “grand dame” of American Art, celebrates not one, but two significant milestones as the historic home of tobacco tycoon, R.J. Reynolds, and his wife Katharine, turns 100; and today’s Reynolda House Museum of American Art, turns the big 5-0. Catch “Georgia O’Keeffe: Living Modern” on display August 18 - November 19, then experience 1920s holiday traditions during the Cenntenial Christmas festivities this December. Wrapping up for spring 2018 is “Frederic Church: A Painter’s Pilgrimage,” February 9 - May 13, 2018. National Black Theatre Festival
The 15th National Black Theatre Festival (NBTF) rolls out the purple carpet July 31 - August 5 in Winston-Salem, transforming North Carolina's city of arts and innovation in a mega-performing arts centre with over 100 performances in a number of the city’s venues. Theatre workshops, films, seminars, midnight poetry slams and a star-studded celebrity gala all work together to accomplish the goal of making the National Black Theatre Festivals one of the best theater festivals in the country. The history of celebrity appearances and performances at the National Black Theatre Festival is not only impressive, but also extensive.
Festival co-chairs for the 2017 NBTF are actress Anna Maria Horsford and actor Obba Babatunde. In addition to numerous television and movie roles, the duo is well-known for their roles as Vivenne and Julius on CBS Daytime Soap Opera, "The Bold and the Beautiful."

Sweet Summer Luv Luv Culinary Festival
Touted as one of Winston-Salem's "most creative culinary events," Sweet Summer Luv Luv fires up at the downtown Spring House Restaurant, Kitchen & Bar Thursday, Aug. 10 through Saturday, Aug. 12. Local celebrity chef, Tim Grandinetti of the Spring House Restaurant, Kitchen, & Bar, and Quanto Basta: Italian Eatery & Wine Bar hosts the annual outdoor grill fest that celebrates the culinary talents of both local and nationally-renowned chefs.
Each evening during Luv Luv, guests enjoy multi-course tasting menus and “hot-off-the-grill” specialties that are prepared and served by an all-star lineup of visiting chefs. Serious foodies have the opportunity to upgrade their ticket option to include seating at The “Belly of the Beast” chef’s table.

Winston-Salem Open Tennis Tournament
Summer’s hottest serve is center-court August 19 - 26 for the Winston-Salem Open Tennis Tournament. Tennis champions John Isner, Andy Roddick, James Blake, Mardy Fish and Michael Chang are among the top-tier players competing in this year’s tournament. Hosted at Wake Forest University, the Winston-Salem Open is the last stop on the ATP World Tour 250 Event leading up to the U.S. Open.
