Visit Winston-Salem

Hiking Pilot Mountain

Donna Hull, famed luxury and baby boomer blogger recently spent four days in Winston-Salem discovering the area's rich Moravian culture and history, growing wine industry and scenic outdoor adventures. She posted to her blog, My Itchy Travel Feet (myitchytravelfeet.com) about an afternoon hiking nearby Pilot Mountain and how other visitors can build their own outdoor itinerary in Winston-Salem. See the excerpt below for a preview of her thoughts.

"Joining a few weekday visitors, I walked the trail to the Big Pinnacle Overlook, stopping at scenic spots to take photos. The relatively easy trail includes walking up and over deep stones. Dried autumn leaves covered some of the trail and would have been slippery after a rain. But on this sunny, November day, the trail was a great way to walk off the calories from the fine Southern food that I’d been sampling in Winston-Salem."
