TravelAddicts.com Features Historic Old Salem
Preserving 250 years of history, Old Salem Museums & Gardens authentically tells the story of Historic Salem and the Moravians that occupied the town in the 18th and 19th centuries. Visit Winston-Salem helped to co-host travel writer and blogger Laura Longwell and from her travels, she recently featured one of Winston-Salem's most popular attractions for its charming appeal, family-friendly engagement and true Moravian cuisine on her blog, TravelAddicts.com.
"Throughout the year, the garden and kitchen are busy places full of seasonally-appropriate activities. On the day of our visit, it was time to dig up some of the last root vegetables of the season, and apples were being harvested. Inside, the menu included venison stew with carrots from the garden, and pickled beets were being preserved with homemade cider vinegar. A stop here is truly a peek inside life in the 1770s." - Laura Longwell
