Piedmont Craftsmen, founded in 1963 by a group of craft artists and craft collectors, held their first Fair in the original Krispy Kreme Factory in Winston-Salem, hoping to build audiences and appreciation for quality craftsmanship. For more than 50 years, thousands of art collectors have looked forward to finding a wide variety of handmade work in a wide range of media, styles and price ranges. Quality craftsmanship and excellent design have always been the hallmarks of Piedmont Craftsmen. The annual fair showcases some of America’s most talented contemporary fine craft artists in a setting that allows shoppers to meet the crafts people, talk to them about their work, and view demonstrations of craft techniques. Exhibitors include craft artists working in clay, wood, glass, fibers, leather, metal, photography, printmaking, and mixed media creating one-of-a-kind works that enhance the quality of everyday life with their functional and esthetic qualities. In addition to the quality of the work shown, Piedmont Craftsmen’s Fair has a well-deserved reputation for an ambience that is relaxed, welcoming, and beautiful. The annual Piedmont Craftsmen’s Fair is held in the reinvented Benton Convention Center in downtown Winston-Salem.
Fair proceeds support the programs of the non-profit Piedmont Craftsmen. The guild conducts workshops, mounts exhibitions, and operates a gallery and shop in the heart of the Downtown Arts District in Winston-Salem. Shop hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information about the Piedmont Craftsmen's Fair, visit PiedmontCraftsmen.org or call (336) 725-1516.
