March 2025 Can't-Miss Events

Things are springing to life here in Winston-Salem. Our March Events Guide details 30+ big events happening this month.


Spring is on the way, and our calendar is filling up! March in Winston-Salem means warmer days, outdoor adventures, and a fresh lineup of events—from theater shows to lakeside concerts to dazzling art exhibits, including the highly anticipated Andrew Wyeth exhibit at Reynolda. Keep reading for details on nearly three dozen can't-miss events happening this month.


 

Wake Forest basketball at LJVM Coliseum

March 1, 8
Wake Forest basketball. The Demon Deacons wrap up their ACC home slate this month with Saturday matchups against Notre Dame (March 1 @5 p.m.) and Georgia Tech (March 7 @2 p.m.). All games will be held at the LJVM Coliseum. For tickets, go to the WFU ticketing website here.

March 1-3
Paranormal Cirque III. Prepare for a night of thrills and chills as Paranormal Cirque III brings its haunting spectacle to the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Arena. This one-of-a-kind production blends jaw-dropping circus artistry with eerie illusions and spine-tingling performances under the black-and-white Big Top. Tickets start at $25 for adults. Note: Guests 13-17 must be accompanied by an adult. No one under the age of 13 will be admitted.

March 1-2, 6-9, 13-16
NC Black Rep presents "Fences."
The North Carolina Black Repertory company presents the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama by famed playwright August Wilson. Set in Pittsburgh in the 1950s, the story centers on a 53-year-old garbage man who once starred in the Negro baseball leagues. All shows will be at Hanesbrands Theatre (209 N. Spruce Street). There will be 11 performances total spread across three weekends with evening shows at 7:30 p.m. and matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are $30-$35. 

March 5
Murder & Margaritas with Sandra Brown. 6:30 p.m. Join bestselling author Sandra Brown for an evening of suspense and storytelling at Murder & Margaritas at Reynolds Place Theatre (inside the Milton Rhodes Center). Brown, known for her gripping thrillers and over 80 million books in print, will discuss her latest novel, Blood Moon—a high-stakes mystery following a detective and a TV producer racing to stop a young woman’s disappearance before the next blood moon. Tickets are $35, which includes a signed copy of Blood Moon and a complimentary margarita. 

March 7
Murder Mystery Fundraiser
. 7–9:15 p.m. Step into a night of intrigue at the Murder Mystery Fundraiser for the Winston-Salem Police Foundation, held at the elegant Robert Hall downtown. Professional actors and real-life detectives set the scene as guests mingle, gather clues, and solve a captivating whodunit. Enjoy an evening of suspense, interactive sleuthing, and delicious hors d’oeuvres with drinks.

March 7-8, 21-22
Carolina Thunderbirds Hockey (Fridays and Saturdays). The Carolina Thunderbirds, Winston-Salem's hometown hockey team, will play four home games this month at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Arena. All matchups will be against the Columbus River Dragons. Friday games begin at 7:35 p.m. while Saturday games begin at 6 p.m.

March 8
NCMA 2nd Saturday: Family Art Activities
. 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Create, explore, and be inspired at NCMA 2nd Saturday: Family Art Activities at the NC Museum of Art Winston-Salem (formerly SECCA). This free, hands-on event invites families to craft their own artwork each month, drawing inspiration from current exhibitions. In March, try your hand at painting, influenced by Internal Review: NCMA Staff Exhibition, and enjoy complimentary museum admission. 

March 8
Old Salem Garden Photography Workshop. 10 a.m. Join Old Salem's horticulture staff for a 2-hour photography workshop focused on capturing garden images using only your smartphone. This hands-on experience blends the history of photography with practical techniques in framing, lighting, and composition, helping you create stunning images of plants, flowers, and landscapes. Tickets are $25; participants must be 12 years or older.

March 8
Kaleideum After Dark: March Maker Madness. 6:30–9:30 p.m. Enjoy a night of creativity and competition at the monthly Kaleideum After Dark event. This adults-only takeover of Kaleideum Museum features hands-on maker activities, trivia in the Digital Dome, and music by DJ Heck Yeah. Tickets are $20 online ($25 at the door) and include two drink vouchers, with a full bar and food options available.

March 8-9
A Chamber Serenade (WS Symphony)
. Saturday, 5 p.m.; Sunday, 3 p.m. The Winston-Salem Symphony is holding two intimate performances inside Centenary United Methodist, highlighted by Arvo Pärt’s meditative "Cantus," which pays homage to composer Benjamin Britten. Other works include Britten's hauntingly beautiful "Serenade for Tenor, Horn, and Strings," and Mozart’s triumphant "Jupiter Symphony." Tickets start at $29.

March 8-9
C&E Gun Show
. C&E Gun Shows Inc. is dedicated to producing the country's most professional, safest, and ethical gun shows. Visitors will find a large selection of guns, ammo, knives, and more. Tickets are $12 (free for kids aged 12 and under). You can purchase tickets at the door or on the C&E website.

March 14-15, 21-23
Theatre Alliance: "The Game's Afoot." The Winston-Salem Theatre Alliance presents this award-winning 'whodunit' comedy/thriller about a Broadway star who invites his fellow cast members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry. All shows are at the Theatre Alliance stage (650 W. Sixth St.) with most shows beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $21 for adults and $19 for students/seniors.

March 14
UNCSA presents Panorama screening. 7–8 p.m. Experience the creativity of emerging student filmmakers at the UNCSA School of Filmmaking’s spring Panorama screening. This must-see event showcases a captivating collection of short films across genres and formats, highlighting their depth and talent. Held at the ACE Theatre on the UNCSA campus, admission is free.

March 14-16
St. Patrick's Weekend at Fiddlin' Fish and Wise Man. Two of the city's top breweries, located within a block of each other, will hold special festivities for St. Patrick's Day. At Fiddlin' Fish, stop by and celebrate with a pint or two of Green-Eyed Blonde, available all weekend long (Friday to Sunday). At Wise Man Brewing, enjoy Irish cocktails and beers, live music, dancers, and food trucks on Saturday and Sunday. Find more details on each brewery's website.

March 15
Spring Festivité at Junius Lindsay. 1–4 p.m. Celebrate spring with French flair at Junius Lindsay Vineyard’s annual Spring Festivité. Sip award-winning French-style wines and savor French fare. Enjoy live jazz from Court Wynter’s Court and Friends as you toast the season. Tickets are $39 and include wine and a curated selection of foods (pastries, macarons, cheeses, artisan breads, fresh fruit, and more.)

March 15
NCMA Crossroads Concert: Caroline Rose
. 6–9 p.m. NCMA Winston-Salem’s Crossroads Concert series welcomes Grammy-nominated indie artist Caroline Rose to Dunn Auditorium on March 15. Known for her cinematic flair and genre-blending sound, Rose’s music fuses psychobilly, pop, alt-country, and experimental influences. Tickets start at $20 online and $25 at the door. 

March 22
Family Cherry Blossom Tea at Reynolda Gardens. 10 a.m.–12 p.m. Celebrate the fleeting beauty of cherry blossoms with a delightful tea at Reynolda Gardens. Families can sip a curated tea, enjoy afternoon tea fare, and partake in hands-on activities like crafting cherry blossom crowns and decorating teacups. Set in the gardens' picturesque Cherry Allée, the event includes a tea plant gift to take home.

  • Cherry Blossom Tea – For Adults! will be held later that day (3:30–4:30 p.m.), offering an elegant twist on the traditional family tea. Under a canopy of pink blooms, indulge in an elevated tea service, enjoy a botanical syrup demo, and sip a Cherry Blossom Italian Cream Soda or spirited Tea Gimlet. 
     

March 22-23
Repticon Winston-Salem. Repticon brings a fascinating mix of reptiles, amphibians, and exotic animals to Winston-Salem, offering a family-friendly expo where guests can learn from breeders, shop for unique pets, and attend expert-led seminars on herpetology. Visitors can also browse supplies, feeders, and merchandise while enjoying hands-on encounters with various creatures. Single-day tickets start at $12 for adults, $6 for kids (ages 5-12); free for kids 4 and under. 

March 28
Reynolda: Drinks @ Dusk. 6–8 p.m. As twilight falls, Reynolda invites guests 21+ to sip, stroll, and explore Drinks @ Dusk. Enjoy a cocktail while viewing the museum's Andrew Wyeth exhibit, wander the historic home’s galleries, and join a scavenger hunt for a chance to win a prize. A live DJ will set the mood with food trucks onsite for a bite. Admission is $25 and includes two drink tickets.

March 28-29
Sports Card, Collectibles & Comic Book Show. Held at the WS Fairgrounds, this event will feature 350+ vendor tables selling  everything from vintage baseball cards and comic books to Hot Wheels, Funko Pops, and movie posters. It's a must-visit for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Tickets start at $5 for single-day passes; $8 for weekend passes. 

March 28-30, April 3-6
Little Theatre: Unnecessary Farce. The Little Theatre of Winston-Salem presents this award-winning, fast-paced comedy that blends classic farce with a modern twist. All performances will be at Hanesbrands Theatre (251 N. Spruce St.). Friday and Saturday shows will be at 7 p.m., while Sunday matinees will be at 2 p.m. Tickets start at $17.

March 29
UNCSA Jazz Festival
. 12–10 p.m. Experience a full day of dynamic jazz with the UNC School of the Arts Jazz Ensemble and special guests. Held at the Millennium Center (101 W. Fifth St.), an electrifying lineup of improvised performances from big band dance tunes to modern jazz. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students.

March 29
WS Symphony: Concert for Community. 3 p.m. Winston-Salem Symphony presents its annual Concert for Community at Wait Chapel on the Wake Forest University campus. This free performance features Youth Symphony musicians playing alongside professionals, plus thrilling concerto showcases by rising stars. The evening opens with the world premiere of a new work by a young local composer, making it a must-see celebration of talent and collaboration.

March 29
NCMA Lakeside Concert Series
. 6 p.m. NCMA’s popular Lakeside Concert Series returns this month with a genre-blending performance by Spencer Zahn and Dawn Richard (formerly of Danity Kane). Their atmospheric sound fuses R&B, soul, jazz, and classical music for an intimate and emotionally raw experience on NCMA Winston-Salem’s scenic grounds. Doors open at 6 p.m., music starts at 7 p.m., and tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door.


 

Throughout the Month (various dates) 

Concerts at the Ramkat. Downtown’s biggest music venue will feature a number of regional and national headliners in March. Big-ticket shows the multimedia experience Cowboy Bebop LIVE! (March 6), rock band Big Head Todd & the Monsters (March 13), bluegrass legends The SteelDrivers (March 14), Talking Heads tribute Same As It Ever Was (March 20), and Fleetwood Mac tribute Rumours ATL. Reynolda Exhibit: Andrew Wyeth at Kuerner Farm. On display throughout the month Reynolda's spring exhibit spotlights works from one of the most popular American artists of the 20th century, Andrew Wyeth. It features a series of rarely-seen Wyeth paintings depicting a farm in his hometown of Chadds Ford, PA. Admission is included with entrance to Reynolda; $18 adults; free from children, college students, teachers, veterans, and more. There will also be a number of special events revolving around the event throughout the spring, including Reynolda On the House (March 16), when all guests are admitted free and can enjoy various activities throughout the estate.

NCMA Exhibit: Internal Review: Staff Exhibition. A new exhibit opening at the NC Museum of Art (formerly SECCA), highlights the artistic works of dozens of NCMA team members. The exhibition spans genres and mediums, from works on paper to sculpture, from photography to music. The exhibit is on display now through May 18 and is included with admission to NCMA ($8 adults, $6 students, seniors, military, free for kids 17 and under).

Taste of Art at Sawtooth. These popular one-night workshops let guests spend a few hours creating art to take home. Multiple classes are scheduled every Friday in March, all taught by local artists, and several Saturday workshops are also planned. Most Taste of Art classes are held at the Sawtooth School downtown (251 N. Spruce Street), though some weekday classes are at Sawtooth's secondary studio at The Generations Center (114 W. 30th Street). Classes are held in various mediums including glass, ceramics, jewelry, fibers, and more.

Ice Skating at the Fairgrounds. March features a full slate of public ice skating sessions at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Arena, with times varying by date. Admission is $10; skate rentals are $3. You can find updated skate times and special events on the Fairgrounds website here.
