Swan Creek Wine Trail
Indulge in boutique wineries along the Swan Creek Wine Trail, just 30 minutes from Winston-Salem.
Just a short, 30-minute drive from Winston-Salem, the Swan Creek Wine Trail offers a mix of grand estates and intimate boutique wineries, all set against the rolling hills of North Carolina’s Yadkin Valley. The official trail is made up of five different wineries, but there are six more in this American Viticulture Area that are worth a visit as well. This wine trail is home to exceptional wines from bold reds to crisp whites crafted with a focus on quality and tradition. Spend the day sipping at scenic vineyards, then return to Winston-Salem for a night of award-winning dining and fun nightlife.
Perched atop a scenic hilltop, Dobbins Creek Vineyards offers views of the vineyard and Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance from its log cabin tasting room and expansive patio. This woman-owned winery has been crafting exceptional wines for over 20 years, combining experience with a welcoming, laid-back atmosphere. In addition to their delicious wines, they create unique cocktails featuring their Dry Riesling such as Mojitos, Cucumber Mint Lemonade, and a Ginger Peach Bellini.

Shadow Springs Vineyard blends classic winemaking with a modern spirit, living up to its slogan “A traditional winery with a decidedly non-traditional attitude.” Its stone tasting room sits right among the vines, overlooking a peaceful pond—perfect for kicking back with a glass in hand. Unlike most Yadkin Valley wineries, Shadow Springs offers a wide selection of sweet wines alongside its dry varietals, making it a great stop for those who love fruit-forward options.

Founded in 2000 by Ben and Kim Myers, Laurel Gray Vineyards carries on a family legacy that dates back to 1773 when their ancestors were granted this land by Queen Charlotte of England. The winery’s tasting room is housed in a renovated milking parlor surrounded by beautiful gardens and a tranquil pond that you can admire while sipping from their covered patio.

Windsor Run Cellars is a one-stop shop for craft beverages, offering everything from wine and mead to small-batch spirits. They love getting creative with their offerings and have a wide selection including fortified wines. On Saturdays, you can tour the on-site distillery and sample their premium liquors. Chateau Jourdain - Opening Soon
Chateau Jourdain brings generations of French winemaking expertise to the heart of the Swan Creek Wine Trail. Philippe Jourdain, a family patriarch, was invited to the United States over 50 years ago as the Biltmore Estate’s first winemaker, and today, his legacy continues in the Yadkin Valley. While they aren’t quite open yet, soon you can enjoy a tasting here, where each pour reflects a deep-rooted passion for winemaking.

Beyond the Swan Creek Wine Trail, the broader Swan Creek American Viticulture Area is home to even more exceptional wineries, each offering its own unique experience. All of these vineyards are conveniently located within a five-mile radius, making it easy to visit multiple spots in a single afternoon. Castello Barone Vineyards & Winery, a veteran-owned estate, is a new addition to the area. Along with classic tastings, they offer a vineyard picnic which is a unique, Instagrammable experience. For those seeking a refined touch, Dynamis Estate Wines provides upscale, reservation-only tastings. Compliment your time here with light snacks from their on-site restaurant or visit for their monthly Sunday Supper series featuring curated food and wine pairings.
Small, boutique wineries shine in this region, like Midnight Magdalena Vineyards, where visitors can sip handcrafted wines on a wraparound porch overlooking the vines. In contrast, Piccione Vineyards recently expanded with a stunning new tasting room offering breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountain views and plenty of outdoor space to soak in the landscape. Right next door, Raffaldini Vineyards & Winery offers a Tuscan-style experience in the Yadkin Valley.
Raffaldini and Piccione both consistently earn national acclaim for their bold, Italian-style wines. For a completely different vibe, Sotrio Vineyards & Winery blends industrial design with a diverse drink selection, offering both wine and craft beer in a sleek tasting room.
