About
For the past six years, Mixxer’s annual Iron Pour—Winston-Salem’s only event of its kind—has captivated the community with a fiery spectacle of molten metal art-making. The highlight of Arts on Fire is Mixxer’s 7th Annual Iron Pour, where tons of upcycled iron is melted down and transformed into stunning works of art. This fiery, large-scale event not only attracts over 2,000 attendees but also offers emerging artists and art students a rare, hands-on opportunity to gain valuable experience in metal casting. By working alongside seasoned professionals, these artists become part of the pour team, learning the entire process while participating in dramatic displays of molten metal that wow the entire audience.
Arts on Fire at Mixxer Community Makerspace presents this one-of-a-kind experience! In addition to the Iron Pour, more than 20 craftspeople will take over “Artisan Alley,” an area adjacent to the Iron Pour demonstration dedicated to showcasing the artists’ crafts in a vibrant marketplace. Live demonstrations of blacksmithing, jewelry forging, raku pottery, and more will mesmerize and educate attendees. Arts on Fire is scheduled as a collaboration with Winston-Salem’s popular annual Food Truck Festival, an event that on its own attracts over 2000 guests, who are able to enjoy a diversity of food offerings while exploring Mixxer’s unique event.
