About
Metal Clay enthusiasts, take note! The fifth edition of the Metal Clay Artists Symposium (MCAS) will take place from Thursday, August 21, to Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Sawtooth School for Visual Art in downtown Winston-Salem, NC. General registration is now open.
This much-anticipated biennial event provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity to connect with metal clay artists from around the world. This year's four-day gathering will feature hands-on workshops, evening presentations, and two-hour Technique Discovery Workshops, all designed for both seasoned beginners and experienced artists to explore new techniques and methods for working with metal clay. The popular Torch Trials will return on the opening day, along with the Metal Clay Expressions Exhibit, Product Playground, Vendor Marketplace, and much more. 2025's featured artist is Patrik Kusek from California.
MCAS, as it’s fondly known, was started in 2016 by Sara Sloan Stine, Director of Metals at Sawtooth School for Visual Art, and Carrie Story, owner of Clay Revolution. The two were brainstorming ways that metal clay artists could find camaraderie and further their technical education through a conference, and MCAS was born! The inaugural event included Russian metal clay artist Anastasia Pribelskaya as Featured Artist, setting the precedent of access to innovative, international leaders in metal clay art.
